sticka väva studio is Marilynn Cowgill, Master Artisan.

I have been in love with textiles since I was a small girl, making clothes for my Ginny dolls. Throughout my life, through knitting and sewing, textiles have played a large part in my life. Then, I found weaving and my love affair intensified! Taking two different fibers and interlacing them together to make new cloth is pure magic to me! I am fascinated with the textures, colors and structures of fabrics and amazed that I can make such magical pieces. I want to convey that magic in my textiles, whether scarves, shawls, jackets, or kitchen towels. The fact that other people find the cloth I make beautiful is a gift to me!

Weaving is a “slow” art and I spend many enjoyable hours making cloth. It excites me every day to go into my studio and immerse myself – once again – into the process. The fibers, the colors, the fabrics all are a part of my passionate life! The natural world and its colors and textures are a constant inspiration for me, and that inspiration is a part of my weaving journey, too.

The studio is open by appointment only, for one-on-one or small classes in weaving, sewing and knitting. These classes are for those people who are at least advanced beginner level, and want to improve or increase their skills. Classes are available for one time, several half-days (for example, every Wednesday afternoon for a month), or full-on intensive classes (for example, three full or half days in a row). Classes can be scheduled to accommodate your needs. To get more information, or to ask questions, email at marilynn@stickavavastudio.com.
